Greeley West junior soccer player Henos Berhane doubles as a midfielder on an club soccer team U20 academy team in Colorado, the Colorado Hailstorm. He finds a passion on the pitch and has an unruly drive for the sport. Berhane is in his junior year and loves to share his passion for soccer.
“When I was playing with them it was a fun experience,” said Berhane. “Getting an opportunity to play with the professionals helped me get a lot better. They showed me it’s not all about speed, or how you can handle the ball and that it’s way more mental than that.”
Berhane plays for the Spartans at the same time because the seasons do not overlap. He said he’s a better player because of his time with the old professionals. “Seeing that there wasn’t a major difference between me and the professionals helped me trust my game. With what I learned it helped me realize that I wanted to be a professional even more,” Berhane explained.
Berhane wants to continue playing after high school. “You can’t take whatever opportunities you’ve been handed for granted. You never know where it will take you or how long it will last. That’s what my time there really helped me learn,” he said.
