Greeley West High School is set to host an exciting event that promises to be a night of music, dance, and delicious treats. The Swing’n Sweets dance featuring the school’s talented jazz band, is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Friday, November 22 in the school commons.
This event is a celebration of the vibrant music culture at Greeley West, with the jazz band performing a selection of swing and jazz music that are sure to get everyone on their feet. The dance is open to all students, faculty, and community members who want to enjoy an evening of live music and dancing while also raising money for a good cause. The jazz band is going to use the funds for band expenses, such as going on trips, preparing instruments, and overall outings for the band.
“People should go because it’s a fun way to support the performing arts,” said Ms. Rosie O’Connor. “This is a huge tradition that Mr. (Chet) Arthur used to do and Mr. (Keaton) Michael is bringing it back. The transition from the old building to the new building was difficult and there was a lot of transitioning pieces so this is something Mr. Michael wants to bring back because he feels this is vital to the Greeley West High School performing arts culture”
The band will be set up on the stairs and swing dancing lessons are going to be taught. The beginning band, advanced band, and jazz band will be playing, and then the Sirens choir, which is the top choir program, are going to perform. Then, the Cream of the Crops band will close out the night, which is a professional Dixieland band.
In addition to the fantastic music, attendees can look forward to a variety of sweet treats. The combination of great music and delicious snacks makes this event a perfect way to unwind and have fun with friends and family.
“I haven’t done anything like this before but I think it’s going to be pretty fun,” said sophomore Hailey Thomspon who is in a jazz band.
So mark your calendars and get ready to swing the night away at the Swing’n Sweets dance. It’s an event you don’t want to miss.
