As December rolls around each year, the halls of West transform into a winter wonderland thanks to the dedicated efforts of the student council. Their annual tradition of crafting a unique snowflake for every single student and staff is more than just a festive decoration. It’s a powerful symbol of unity and inclusiveness. 

The tradition began when the student council wanted to find a way to bring the student body together during the holiday season and decided on snowflakes because like students and staff, each one is unique. The project quickly gained popularity and is now a part of the school’s December celebration. 

Creating almost 2000 snowflakes is no small job. The student council members spend weeks cutting, folding, and decorating each one. The dedication and hard work they put into this project are truly commendable to fostering a sense of belonging among all students. 

When the snowflakes are finally hung up, the effect is magical as when you walk through the hallways you can’t help but feel a sense of warmth and community. Each snowflake represents a student, reminding us that we are all part of something bigger.
