Tonight, each grade level is coming together to compete against other grade levels in a game of volleyball. These games are going to be happening at Greeley West High School inside of the Main Gym. People that are coming to watch get an all free entry at the front doors for the whole game.
Peach Fuzz has been a game that has gone on for years at Greeley West where students get to sign up and pay a fee to participate in a game of competitive volleyball with their fellow classmates in their grade level. “It’s important to remember that school isn’t just about school, that the best parts of school are events like these and prom,” teacher Ms. Lea Sanford said.
Seniors this year will be able to get a free-bee while sophomores and juniors will play against each other to see who gets to compete against the seniors. Whoever gets the victory from that game will play against the seniors in the final match. Once there is a winner for that game then the winners will play against the teachers in the assembly on Friday.
Each team will need to have a coach to help bring together and coach the team to help the team work better together as teammates. Teachers will be assigned the role as coaches to help prepare students to play against each other. More than likely teachers that have experience playing volleyball will more than likely sign up to help coach the team. “I used to play volleyball in high school and I’m hoping that that will transfer over,” teacher Ms. Sadie McGowin says.
While students get ready to play volleyball against each other, competitive spirits start to grow. Students are coming into this match with high goals in hopes to reach the top and beat the seniors. The Junior class especially is looking forward to getting their win this year in beating the sophomore and senior class to ensure their victory to play the teachers in the assembly.
This competitive spirit brings in competitive games that help bring the fun and joy into playing Peach Fuzz every year. This is a great way for students to learn how to make not only individual goals but team goals to help grow. Not only does this bring healthy activities for students to do but it also creates new friendships and bonds. “It’s finally our time to win against seniors and win this year.” Junior Tagen Becher says.
