New principal Jeff Cranson is taped to a wall in 2013 for a fundraiser at Greeley West. In a letter to the staff of West, Superintendent Dr. Deidre Pilch announced she will take Cranson’s name to the school board for final approval on Monday.

The wait is over and Greeley West has a new school principal. Mr. Jeff Cranson has been acting principal since resignation of the previous principal. Not much had changed for the student body and staff because Cranson, as the Athletic Director, has always been involved in all things Greeley West.

By early indications, students are excited and multiple classrooms cheered as they heard the announcement during 2nd period.

Sophomore Hana Cropper stated, “It’s awesome that he is going to be our principal because he is kind of already the face of West so it’ll be like nothing changed.”

Junior Evett Dominguez concurred, saying he was the perfect pick for the school.  Dominguez said, “I love that he is principal because I believe he is very dedicated and he’s always at school events and I think it’ll do good for our school.”

Cranson had been the interim principal. Pending the Board of Education’s approval on Monday night, the interim will be removed and Cranson will officially hold the title of Principal.

In an email sent to the staff, Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Pilch said, “Mr. Cranson has been an educator as well as an assistant principal/athletic director for Greeley West High School for over 13 years.  He is a staff developer and was previously coordinator for the AVID program within our district.  I look forward to Jeff’s leadership at Greeley West High School and in District 6.”

Cranson was unavailable for comment. Read more in the next edition of the West Word.
