New IB Coordinator brings energy to position
September 8, 2016
The new IB Coordinator Marie Beach is taking the place of Amy Zulauf and has big shoes to fill. Zulauf had to step down from her spot as IB coordinator last year in order to be a full-time assistant principal after multiple years of leading the program.
This summer, Beach was hired to continue to grow the IB program. Zulauf has been impressed with Beach so far and the dedication she has brought to the position. “I think she will do fabulous, she is very knowledgeable; she is very positive and she has a lot of energy so she will be perfect for the job,” Zulauf said.
Beach, in turn, is excited to be in the position and thinks she will do well as the new coordinator. “I am very excited about the IB retreat coming up next week and I’m very excited to get to know Colorado students and get more of a feel for this school,” Beach said.
“I am also very excited about how eager some students are to go to college and continue learning and create better relationships with other students and that is just so humbling to know,” Beach added.
MYP sophomore Jackson Morgan is excited because some of the upcoming events that are already scheduled. “So far she seems really excited about being in charge of the IB program and already she has set up events for us so I think she will do well,” Morgan said.

Mrs. Beach is a true gem of a lady. She is such a wonderful person and an even more wonderful teacher. I was a member of the IB Program at Johnson High School in Savannah, GA and took Pre IB Sophomore Honors English with her during the 2008-2009 School Year as well as IB English Junior Level during the 2009-2010 School Year. She taught me so much and was such an inspiration. People complimented me on my writing abilities and professional communication skills when I was in college at Armstrong State and I continue to receive compliments as a certified medic and security professional with a Private Security Detachment. I give her all credit. I know that so many students, myself included were helped and inspired by her. The Savannah-Chatham Public School System has lost an icon whom I would deem a “National Treasure,” and she is sorely missed, but I am happy that she can inspire a new generation with her new position as an IB Coordinator. Her knowledge , expertise, and experience will serve your institution well in that capacity. I would say that Marie Beach is an invaluable team member essential to the success and growth of the IB Program. She truly does have a lot of energy and ideas to share. I don’t mean to be blunt, but the IB Coordinator from my high school did not have much energy or drive in comparison to Mrs. Beach. He didn’t seem to care as much as he should have with regards to the personal success and goals of the students. He was also focused on the other opportunities he was pursuing in his life politically. In addition, there were also various issues regarding different aspects of the program at Johnson High School. I know for a fact that the attitude, charisma, and dedication that Mrs. Beach brings to the table will be invaluable to the success of the IB Program at your institution. I know because those three facets which she brings forth were invaluable to my own personal growth and success, especially when I was going through a really rough patch in life, losing my mother at fifteen years of age and subsequently living in an abusive home environment for two and one half years. She will focus solely on the needs and success of “her kids,” going above and beyond to get the job done. It seems that so many teachers or persons in positions of authority who can affect positive change and enable kids to chase and accomplish their goals are forgetting that simple rule which comes with the calling to serve as an educator. She will not disappoint. I wish her the very best of luck and much success. She deserves the absolute very best that life has to offer. I was really honored and ecstatic when she came to my high school graduation even though I had transferred schools and left the IB Program. I am happy that she will do so much more good elsewhere and that she is finally getting the appreciation, support, and respect that she has rightly earned. I hope that this is passed on and she will read this.
Sincerely,

I had the pleasure to work with Marie Beach as a fellow teacher when she lived here in Georgia. She has a passion for teaching and loves working with young people. She is a great leader and a perfect fit for this IB program as the new coordinator. We miss you here in Georgia Mrs. Beach and wish you all the best in Colorado. God bless you.
