Senior begins photography career
Jaquez takes West students’ senior pictures
September 14, 2016
Senior Jorge Jaquez has already launched his photography career by successfully taking senior pictures for his peers at Greeley West High School.
He first started getting into photography when he talked to his friend, Lobna Alsrraj, who persuaded Jaquez to start his own Instagram page that featured different students around West. Jaquez al reached out to his photography role model, Hannah Swick, who is a professional wedding photographer.
Over the summer Swick became Jaquez’s mentor and gave him tricks and pointers about how to increase his level of photography. Through Jaquez’s learning experiences, he has discovered what he enjoys. “I tend to take pictures of people and portraits; I feel like nature is not my style. I have a way to show strong emotions through portraits rather than scenery,” Jaquez said.
Jaquez’s friend, senior Taylor Holm, is Jaquez’s go-to model for when he has an inspiration for a new project. On September 4, Jaquez and Holm traveled to Estes Park to take different pictures with the mountain scenery behind them.
This year, Jaquez will be charging a $40 fee for taking senior pictures.
