This year the Greeley West football team has adapted a new method for honoring the players of the week. The coaches of the football team hand-pick three players that had excelled during the week’s game.

The players of the week each come from a different category. The three category’s that the coaches decided on were offense, defense and special teams.

Each player that wins the award gets a commemorative football. Although this is no ordinary football. The football is especially designed for the player that won it. The football includes which category the athlete won the football in. It also includes the name of the team that they played that week and the name of the name of the athlete who received the award.

Sophomore long snapper, Trey Flores, received the special team’s player of the week during Week 3.  Flores stated, “Winning special teams player of the week was an honor. I really appreciated the coaches seeing my work. “

These awards are having a positive impact on the football team and building the confidence of the young athletes on the varsity team.
