Gudiel wins prestigious Dell Scholarship

Last week, senior Darelnia Gudiel, along with hundreds of other students nation-wide, found out she was the winner of the Dell Scholarship, worth about 20,000 over the course of four years.

Gudiel was the only Greeley West student that won the scholarship.  Northridge had four winners.

The Dell scholarship awards and recognizes academic success with students and supports their financial needs while in college. The scholarship grants scholars the money to complete their higher education over the course of six years. To apply for the scholarship, students must be a part of a college-preparatory program like Gear Up or AVID.  Gudiel is an AVID student.

Gudiel was very relieved and surprised for not having to pay for college. “It feels good to finally have the weight of college payments off my shoulder,” she said.

Gudiel’s studies will take her to Colorado State University, although she doesn’t know exactly what she will study.

“I’m very grateful and happy that I had the opportunity to win the Dell Scholarship and I can’t wait to start my college journey,” Gudiel said.
