After coming off of a tough loss to Windsor, the Spartans planned to move on and bounce back this last week against the cross town rival, The Central Wildcats. In which they did just that.

This was Central’s homecoming game and they were totally dominated the Spartans. The final score was 42-10.

After a very scary start which involved three fumbles and Central leading by a score of 7-0 after the first quarter for the Spartans, they were able to quickly turn it around and end up leading 21-10 at the end of the first half.

Greeley West came out hot in the second half and was able to leave the bad plays behind them. West took the Rivalry game once again with a strong dominant win.

Sophomore running back Derek West explained his feelings after the game, “We definitely had some pre-game jitters which I think caused that bad first quarter.”

This game is one of the biggest games of the season so it can always be a little stressful. “It felt really good to get the ‘Dub’ after the game. It felt good to go in there and whoop their butts,” West said.

Senior Darren DeLaCroix was awarded the MVP award after having 182 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Greeley West will have their Homecoming game this Friday night against Grand Junction High School at District 6 Stadium at 7 p.m.
