The Greeley West boys soccer team had another amazing victory last night over a tough 5A opponent, the Poudre Impalas. It was another thrilling victory in overtime.

It was the Spartans’ second-straight win in OT, following last week’s double overtime victory against Fossil Ridge. The Spartans have now improved to 5-5 overall and 3-5 in league play. It is another important victory as the boys look to make a playoff push for the post season.

The Spartans were up 1-0 for the majority of the game with a goal scored by Sadam Mohamud in the 20th minute. That was until the impalas struck quick in the second half to even the game at 1-1.

The boys had some opportunities that they failed to capitalize on in some big moments. Then, junior Luis Ramos hit a big goal in overtime after a good assist from senior Jose Ramirez. It was also a big game from senior goalie Brandon Valladares, who had seven saves.

Senior captain Cesar Barrera said, “It was a big win for us and it is giving us a lot of momentum going forward so we can hopefully host a home playoff game.”

The Spartans will play another league game against the Monarch Coyotes who have a 3-5-1 record at their home turf Thursday night.
