Rain, rain, go away – we’ve got to get through the hallway

Rain is causing issues in the 600 hallway. The past few days it has been raining steadily which means the 52-year-old building  that is Greeley West is having troubles keeping up with the typical weather in Colorado.

Custodians have set up an obstacle of nine trash cans in the 600 hall to keep the leakage out of the lockers and off the floor to avoid giant wet spots that could cause harm during passing period.

Head custodian Denise Tellez stated, “Everyone who walks into West knows that it isn’t the newest building. So when we get rain like this our building can’t handle it all. The roofs we have are shaped in a strange way so that when bad weather comes, creases open up and result in us having to put out trash cans to keep the water off the floor.”

The trash cans are causing delays into the Hub and is affecting students arriving to class on time during passing periods.  Junior Cedric Corrales gave his input on how the trash cans affect passing period. “It gets really crowded and kids push the trash cans around so they aren’t even under the leak anymore,” Corrales said.

There’s another by-product according to Corrales as well.   “It smells pretty bad too because kids are throwing their food away in the cans so when you walk by them all you smell is rotten food,” Corrales said.
