Story steps up to new position for volleyball team

The Greeley West volleyball team has had some bumps in the road due to injuries.  They lost key junior Delaynie Mcphee to a fractured ankle; she will miss the rest of the season.

Despite the struggles, one player in particular is having a breakout season and stepping it up. That is Senior Libero Kelsey Story.

Story is playing in her first season on the varsity after sitting out her junior year due to transfer rules.  Story had left West to attend Fort Collins, but quickly returned to West, making her ineligible.

So far. she has 16 kills and 45 digs on the season. Story was playing so well, she moved to Libero from outside hitter because of an injury to another teammate. She has stepped up and filled the shoes as well as anyone could playing that position.

When asked about how she felt coming into the season she said, “I was kind of nervous because I took a year off and I didn’t think my skill level would be there,” Story said.  “But now that I am playing a new position I am working so much harder to get it down.”

She has handled the pressure well and looks forward to helping her team finish the season strong.
