On Tuesday, El Teatro put on a rehearsal for anyone who wanted to come and watch after school. This was a chance for the students in El Teatro to prepare for the actual performance. The show started at 3:50 pm after school; it was held in the Commons. Many students and teachers stopped by and watched.

English language teacher Ms. Jessica Cooney said El Teatro is, “a multilingual, multicultural theatre company that involves students from West, Central and Northridge.”

She stated the goal of the club is, “to show people that we truly are more alike than we are different and that although our community is diverse, we have so many shared hopes and dreams.”

The performance gives students the chance to tell their story and have a voice.

The theme of the 2016-17 show is “One Community.”  The actual show started on Wednesday and goes through February. It runs various times throughout this time period at various locations.

On Tuesday many different students had many different parts in the rehearsal. They started off the show with a group dance. Then throughout the rehearsal, they had different groups come up and dance.

There were different types of dancing like a Cuban dance, Latin Hip Hop dance, and a Karenni dance. Between dances, students had the chance to voice their opinion about the community in the languages they speak.
