The Greeley West girls’ basketball team traveled to Boulder last Tuesday, January 24, for a big league game. The girls basketball team has struggled in their league the past few years, but on Tuesday, they won their first league game this year.

West pulled out the win 28-29. It’s not a very high scoring game, but it is a win in league. This game obviously went down the stretch and was a one possession game.

The West Girls were down for most of the game by a point or two. Then, when it came down the last few minutes the girls were able to draw fouls and they got the lead by free throws. Once they got the lead they were able to hold it for the last minute.

Senior basketball player Yvette Terrazas stated, “Practice have been getting more intense. We prepared for this game better than we usually have. We had a good talk and made personal and team goals.”

The Greeley West girls team has been approving a lot this year. They play a home Tuesday night against Poudre.
