Soccer team slips past Central

The Greeley West Spartans girls’ soccer team took on their cross town rival Greeley Central Monday night. The Spartans took the win 2-1. The two goals were scored by freshman Kendra Roth and Junior Emily Cook.

Cook was the winner of the annual Andrew Borg MVP award. Cook is now being a part of a great tradition that has been awarded to many great soccer players in the past. Last year’s award went to Caeley Lordamen who is now playing D1 soccer at Colorado State University. Cook stated,” It’s an honor to win the award and it feels great to represent West as we won another year against Central.”

As the Spartans still pulled away with a win, they could have played better. In the recent years West has pulled away with easy mercy rule wins.

With the help from new head coach Laura Knudsen, the Spartans hope to come away with many more wins in the future.

The Spartans take on the Winsdor Wizards Thursday.
