Throughout the whole school year there has been a lot of talk about a possible schedule change for the schools in the district. On Sunday, Superintendent Pilch made an announcement and released an official letter that explained bus transportation, and start and dismissal times.

The changes in bus transportation consist of making walking distances to bus stops longer for certain students. District 6 is changing the distances to make them similar to other Front Range districts. For elementary schools the walking distances increased to up to 1.5 miles when they were previously at 1.25 miles. Middle school walking distances changed from 1.5 miles to up to 2 miles. Lastly, high school students will have to walk up to 3 miles opposed to the previous distance of 2.5 miles.

With the reduction of high school allows a shift in start time which was exactly what has been the talk around West the whole school year. The start times affect all three levels of schooling. Two K-8 schools, McAuliffe and Winograd will be starting at 7:50 a.m. and end at 3:10 p.m. Middle schools will have a reduced start time, they will start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3:55 p.m. Lastly, Greeley high school’s complete schedules have not yet been completed but it has been decided that the start time will be no later than 8 a.m.

Any changes or updates to the High School schedule will be released and let known by the District 6 superintendent Deidre Pilch.
