Link Leaders welcome nearly 500 freshmen to school

On Friday August 18, juniors and seniors involved in Link Crew welcomed almost 500 freshman to Greeley West High School for freshman orientation. Students involved in Link Crew came back to school early and prepared for the orientation with training on Wednesday and Thursday, learning games that could be played to get to know the freshman.

Each group had about ten to twelve kids with two Link Crew leaders. When freshmen walked in the gym, they had all the teachers in the building welcoming them. The games throughout the day were to get the freshman comfortable with one another. Link Leaders even took the time to give their freshmen group a tour and show them their classes so they would have an easier time getting around our school.

Freshman Madison Ewing stated, “The games we played made me feel more comfortable coming into high school with some people that I knew and some leaders that I could count on.”

The Link Crew hopes to touch base with their freshmen throughout the year in the hopes that various activities help freshman to feel like they have a group of friends and upperclassman to help them out whenever.
