A familiar face at Greeley West high school is moving back into a familiar roll to start the 2017-18 school year.  Mr. Brian Holmes has returned to teaching after four years of working in the office as the Dean of Students.

Prior to his time as dean, Holmes was actually a health and PE teacher.  Holmes hopes to get back in the feel of being in the classroom instead of being in the office.

“I’m excited to build positive relationships with kids and help make a difference now in the classroom, Holmes explained.  “Individual connections – I feel like I can make more of a difference and that’s my goal is to leave an impact on my students.

This year he is only teaching two different classes. He has multiple health classes throughout the day and he has a third period Unified PE class.  He seems to be looking forward to those classes and the year in general. One thing is for sure:  Holmes is ready for this next phase of his career.

“What will be most different to me is the switch of roles from being the Dean and having kids in my office all day long to now being a teacher,” Holmes said. “I don’t know if I will ever go back to my administrative role but as of now I’m excited to be where I am back in the classroom.”
