NFL players should make statement without kneeling during anthem

Over the last few years, the National Football League has had controversy over kneeling for the national anthem and it has caused a big deal. This last Sunday, the NFL took even a bigger stand for what they believe in. President Donald Trump sparked this by saying he would fire the players if he was the owner of the team and the players did not like that.

Teams on Sunday became closer than ever before by making statements as teams. From the owner down to the kicker, some teams were by each other sides. Some teams decided to stay in their locker room, some teams locked arms, and some teams kneeled as a team. Other teams had players and coaches kneeling while their teammates were standing proud with their hand on their hearts. However, over 100 players and coaches kneeled and it has caught the attention of many.

It is highly disrespectful and wrong for players to take knees during the national anthem. The flag represents more than America, as it stands for the Americans that have died for this country. The flag is put on the coffin of dead soldiers that are returning home and that flag is why they died. Sadly, these athletes think that this flag is okay to disrespect. Teams that stayed in the locker room said they did to prevent more attention to their team, but I still feel like you need to respect that flag and give your honor to it where you should be.

The teams that locked arms and stood as a whole team from the owner to the player through the anthem was actually cool. It was showing unity and still honoring the United States flag. If NFL teams are going to protest the flag and try to get noticed, then they need to think about taking this step and uniting all Americans as one.
