On September 16, Evans Heritage Day took place and hundreds of locals from both Greeley and Evans gathered to celebrate. Not only was there a parade to watch, but many small, local businesses set up small booths providing information on their specialty.

Along with informational booths, like where one would get their hair done to who to contact when the house needs painting, there were fun booths at the festival for all ages, including face paint for the young ones and raffles for older people.

With an estimated 1,500 people attended this year’s festival was “very well received by the community” said Kristan Williams, communications manager for the event.

In the parade, everyone from servicemen to people riding toilets were present. Among the festivities was Greeley West’s own marching band. Other local schools were present like Ann K. Heiman, Chappelow Magnet School and Greeley Central.

Band Director, Mr. Chet Arthur had the band playing a variety of different spectacular pieces and everyone in the crowd was on their feet along with the Spartans. West played very well and competed with all they had for the first-place ribbon in the event. Although Central came out on top with their marching performance, West wowed the crowd as well.
