Boys soccer plays first on-campus game in over a decade

Usually the Greeley West soccer team play at District 6 soccer field, but that will no longer be the case. After Greeley West had their own stadium built with a brand new turf field, there is no point in traveling out to Northridge to play anymore.

Tonight will be the first game ever held on that field and the first soccer game played at West in the last 10 years.

This will change the soccer schedule that was originally designed significantly. There are no longer home night games. The varsity will play at 4 p.m. at Greeley West High School now. The JV will then play later at 6 p.m.

The Spartans will take on Fossil Ridge tonight. The Spartans are coming in at 2-6 and the Sabercats are coming into this game at 5-1-1. This is a big league game for the Spartans and they need the win.

Sophomore Erick Gonzales said, “Playing at West is going to be different, but hopefully we play good. It’s not the same field we’re used to, but that shouldn’t matter or change how we play. The time shouldn’t matter either and we should play our best and work hard.”
