AVID juniors attend college fair

AVID juniors took a trip to Aurora to attend one of the two college fairs of the year. With 46 students on the field trip, Greeley West was the biggest school there. More than 20 schools attended, including Greeley Central.

AVID centers around the idea of preparing and sending students to a four year university after their high school. One of the many activities that the program provides is taking trips to college fairs. A college fair is where an abundant amount of colleges send their admissions counselors to set up informational booths for incoming freshman or anyone who is interested in attending their school.

When students go around to the different schools, the students give out their email to schools they are interested in, in order to receive more information. Junior AVID teacher Ms. Lea Sanford said it was an, “opportunity to meet college representatives and gain a better understanding of what admissions to colleges require.”

Like mentioned before, this fair will not be the only one the juniors will attend this year. Sometime in February, although the date is uncertain, the juniors and select sophomores will be attending not only a college fair, but also a Nuggets game.
