The Greeley West Thespians will open their 2017-18 theater season with a presentation of the comedy Rumors. The story is about a dinner party gone wrong and the ensuing drama that the characters face. The dinner party is set in a high-end house in the Palisades, 20 miles north of New York City.

Rumors is a farce, which means that it is a high-end comedy. Think smart humor before slap-stick comedy.  Rumors is one of the most produced plays by high school students across the United States.

“I picked this show because it fit very well with this group of seniors,” said director Ms. Peggy Freemole, who is the theater and speech teacher Greeley West.

The show will be performed four times during the next two weeks. Opening night is this Friday, at 7 p.m. Shows will also be held on Saturday and November 10 and 11, also at 7 p.m.

Fans can purchase tickets at the door the night of the show for 10 dollars. Arrive early to guarantee your spot for the best seats.

“I really enjoy being able to participate in this show. This show is one of my favorites and I definitely think kids and adults will enjoy it,” said Katie Gorsline, who plays Claire Ganz, an inebriated guest at the dinner party.

Some of the leads in the farce are William Wingfield, Kayla Becker, and Jackson Starkey.

One of the interesting perks of this year’s fall play is that the entire stage design was constructed by two of the individuals who are also actors. Starkey and Tosh Swapp used blueprints and their math skills to construct the stage design as part of their community service hours required for the IB Diploma. The process took over 100 hours to complete.
