Only one senior makes boys basketball team’s roster

Over 70 kids showed up and tried out to see if they were able to make a Greeley West basketball team last week. After pairing down cuts, 30 remain, hopeful of keeping momentum from last basketball season alive.

This season, the Spartans will not have a freshman team. They will only have three teams with the C team having 15 kids, JV having around 10 and the varsity having around eight. This was a big change for how coaches decided the teams and the approach they had to take.

There is only one senior in the whole program who plays for the Spartans. Oscar Flores has put three years in the program and has been playing varsity already for one of those years. With the rest of the varsity, team made up of juniors, Flores will be looking to lead the Spartans to victory throughout the season.

“With my last season coming up, I want it to be the best one yet. With being the only senior, its weird but I have great chemistry with the rest of the team and we are hopefully going to have a great season and make the playoffs,” Flores said.

West opens up its season next week in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
