Next Wednesday December 6Greeley West is holding its annual blood drive. The National Honor Society is hosting the event along with Bonfils Blood Center. The blood drive is a great way to donate to people that are in need and to the society. If you are wanting to help the cause, there are certain requirements that have to be met.

To be eligible to donate, individuals need to be at least 100 pounds, at least 16 years of age, and have not traveled outside the country because of Malaria risks.  Students at West must receive teacher permission for donating during class, bring their ID to the blood drive, and be willing to give up an hour of  time to donate during school hours.

There are two requests Bonfils makes:  participants should eat a high protein meal and drink plenty of water prior to donating. It is requested to drink high amounts of water two days before the donation.

If you are under the age of 18 you are required to have parent permission. To do this you must have a parental consent signed before going in.

If you have any questions or want to sign up, contact Mr. Peter Jakus ( [email protected] ) or see the table during lunch in the Hub to get your permission slip.

Donating blood is an easy and great way to help your society. “The blood drive is an important way to provide resources for people who need blood. It’s just a small way for us to contribute to the world,” senior NHS member Jackson Starkey said.
