On February 3, it was finally time for the Greeley West Poms team to compete in their dances at Disney World at the ESPN Wide World of SportsCenter at Nationals. They started with their jazz dance. Unfortunately, the Spartans did not make finals for this dance, but the Spartans followed up with their “boxing” themed dance in the Hip-Hop division.

The Spartans did extremely well in their second dance, and they made finals. This was the first time making finals since 2011. “We were extremely shocked and we all cried. But it was the best feeling ever,” said senior Peyton Book, one of the captains of the team. After the announcement, the team prepped for finals on Sunday.

The next afternoon, the Poms danced their final dance, but had to wait until 11 p.m. to hear the results: the Spartans placed 16th.

Junior Bryana Martinez, explained, “We were shocked to find out we were 16th in the nation. It was amazing news finding that out. Once we found out, we all were very happy with how we did.”
