Greeley West principal Mr. Jeff Cranson issued a statement on the student demonstrations today at Greeley West High School.

In the release, Cranson suggested there were as many as 200 students who left the building and returned to class 20 minutes later during the 10 a.m. window.  “The students who participated were voicing opinions about school safety and supporting those who were involved in the recent Florida shooting,” Cranson said in the statement.

Cranson continued, “GWHS encourages students to express opinions when appropriate and wants to work with students to make sure they do so in a safe and effective way.  We applaud students who met with administrators ahead of time to notify of us of the event and to put together plans to keep everyone safe and to keep the event on message.  Students were respectful of school staff and of the community during the demonstration.”
