After a long season of finals and testing, the AP and IB chemistry classes blew off steam during their final with a little liquid nitrogen.
Students, in place of their final, got the chance to make Dippin Dots with liquid nitrogen as a fun science experiment. The University of Northern Colorado donated liquid nitrogen, and chemistry teacher Ms. Cyndy Stump brought in the pre-made ice cream liquid mixture. The mixture was put into a bowl, then placed inside the nitrogen, freezing it instantly and creating an ice-cream mixture that is commonly known by the brand, Dippin Dots.
Students from other classrooms joined in as they froze other objects such as roses, balloons, and a penny. It was a fun way for everyone to enjoy their last days of school.
βI think that the experiment was a lot of fun! Students seemed to enjoy it and it was just a lot of fun,β stated Stump. βIt was cool to see the other kids joining in.β
