Meeting communicates options for seniors after graduation

The class of 2019 at Greeley West High school had a meeting during homeroom last week to  discuss important information that the seniors would need to know about applying for college. There was a lot of information that might have not come off clear to the students, senior Anthony Ulaszek stated. “Some of the information they explained was kind of confusing,” Ulaszek said.

The meeting discussed scholarships that the students could apply for.  Assistant principal Ms. Amy Zulauf mentioned at the meeting that the senior class last year had a difficult time finding scholarships and how to apply for them.

This year, the school hired Ms. Lizette Guerrero to help the seniors apply for college and find scholarships.  She is available in room 201, Mondays, Wednesdays, and partly Fridays.

Homeroom is also a great time for seniors to get help with FAFSA and  scholarships. The goal that the counselors wanted the seniors to get out of this meeting was to remind students to start applying for colleges and scholarships so they won’t be drowning in debt.  Also their goal was to make students feel like they have someone looking out for their future and if they are ever confused about applying they can go to the counseling office.
