Time flies by for seniors as first semester ends

For many, high school goes by slow. Students can’t wait to be done with what they deem to be the worst years of their life.

For seniors, their last year can’t seem to go slow enough. It’s their last year in their high school career and they’re all transitioning into the next part of their lives. For seniors in IB, these last few weeks seem to last seconds.

“Senior year has definitely been going fast, which is kind of scaring me because we’re getting close to going to our dream colleges and then into life, like adults. My stress levels are definitely raised now compared to last year because being in IB takes up most of your time,” senior Adamary Ortiz explains.

Between their current classes and figuring out what college they’re going to dedicate the next part of their lives to, there seems to be no shortage of stressors for seniors. Many seniors also juggle jobs and
extracurriculars on top of their normal school life.

“At the end of the day, I know that all of the stress and struggles of this year, and school in general, is just going to prepare me for the rest of my life and ultimately, be worth all the nights spent getting crumbs and tears in the binding of my textbooks,” Ortiz finished.

If seniors think they’re busy right now, wait until next semester. Seniors will assuredly be busy applying for scholarships, attending banquets, registering for next year’s classes, and all of the other things first-year college kids worry about.
