Mesa offers full-ride scholarships to seniors

Greeley West seniors Georgina Magana Orantes and Kali Richardson received full-ride scholarships to University of Colorado Mesa.

An honor roll student since her freshman year, Magana Orantes has worked extremely hard to maintain at least a 3.8 GPA all four years of high school, ensuring that she earns good grades in all of her AP classes.

Georgina exclaimed, “I’m excited to see what the next few months of senior year will hold.”

Aside from academics, Magana Orantes plays soccer for West and is involved in Key Club, National Honors Society, Fashion Club, and Student Council.

Richardson has an interest in studying biology, and Mesa’s main hope for future biology students is to use science as a way of thinking and problem solving, instead of as a list of formulas and facts to memorize.

Mesa’s overview of the biology program, stated on their website, describes the program as “A broad, comprehensive course of the main areas of biology teaches the ability to apply this knowledge to address new questions.”

“They considered me distinguished in the state and I was so glad that I received this scholarship because college can be so hard to pay for these days,” Richardson explained.
