If Anything Happens I Love You is an American animated film, directed and written by Michael Govier. This movie was released on November 20 on Netflix.

Although this isn’t based on a book, it is related to current events.  It shows parents grieving towards losing their child at a school shooting.

The movie shows how the parents end up falling apart and being distant. They are both watched over by shadows indicating their emotions. The shadow which represents their daughter brings them back together by playing a record player bringing back memories.

These memories bring back flashbacks of their daughter’s childhood and her going to school. They revisit the memory of their child entering the school.  The shadows try to stop it from happening but they could not. The daughter is shot during a school shooting with her last words being “ If anything happens I love you.”

This short film was great and emotional. I believe it had so much meaning and was sending out a message. We need more films like this relating to reality and what is really going on.
