Schools all around offer many classes and ways to get involved. A popular option at Greeley West High School is the yearbook. It’s one where many students have been involved and enjoyed their time while taking pictures making memories and interviewing students and creating a year of memories into a book which is always something to look forward to.
But now that the year ends soon how much of a workload is left and what are students saying about the final? Jaqui Guiterrez a senior in her last semester of high school has taken this class since the start of the year and has seen the change in her work as the year has continued. She said, “I would say that at the beginning of the year, we had more work because we had to learn how to use our platform and work on pages for the yearbook.”
Still, she compared the work to now. “Everyone is more relaxed and able to work at slower paces without having to feel rushed and enjoying the time of just being there,” Guiterrez said.
Many students have nothing but kind words to mention about the yearbook. Sophomore Santi Salcido is a student in the yearbook and said, “Yearbook was a little hard at the beginning of the year until students got brought closer together and helped combine great ideas and partnerships to make the yearbook as good as possible.”
This class seems to bring kids closer together and help you outside your comfort zone with the idea of working with others and having bright ideas for the yearbook. “I would describe yearbook as a safe place to put your creativity to the test and try new things,” Salcido said.
Having a safe and creative space to work brings these students together and helps them engage in hard work and meet crucial deadlines the important final deadline will be April 15th.
