Greeley West’s new IB coordinator, Maria Beach, has brought her rabbit, Shakespeare, to school.

Shakespeare is a miniature lion-headed rabbit. He was bought by Beach’s 2009 theater class in Georgia. The class bought the rabbit as a joke for a class mascot. He was later then kept as a pet and has been with Beach since then.

He has spent his entire life as a classroom rabbit. Shakespeare is more than a classroom rabbit though. He can definitely scent when someone needs a friend and he is there to be here for the kids.

Shakespeare is not here to be just a classroom pet. He is here to impact the IB program and Beach is hoping that when kids are stressed out about school that they can come and see him and relax and then complete the task they need to.

The rabbit is taken care of by both the students and Beach herself. The usual life span of this breed of rabbits is 14-18 years.montes-ilse

Junior Lake Sands stated, “My instant reaction was, ‘Whoa. This bunny has a lot of hair and is really soft.’”
