Music programs look ahead to Florida trip

Every year, the music department does a big trip for their students. This year, it will be to Florida.

Over spring break, the music students will travel to Orlando to perform in a competition at Disney World. Many of the students are very excited for this, as it is the first time they have traveled to Florida for their trip. Choir student Krystal Hernandez said, “I think we will do pretty good at the competitions. We have gotten many superior ratings in the past so we should continue to do good.”

If all of the music students have this kind of confidence in their performance abilities, they should go far in the competition.

The only downside to a trip this size is the cost. There is an estimated $14,000 needed to send the band, orchestra and choir down to Florida.

Of course, they have some fundraising plans set throughout the school year. Senior, Abby Rocha, who is in choir and orchestra talked about the different types of fundraising they will be doing. “We’ll be doing lots of fundraising throughout the year. From cookie dough to possibly poinsettias and coupon cards,” Rocha said.

Overall these, students are working hard to make their way to this exciting and fun trip!
