Softball team goes undefeated at Berthoud Invite

Greeley West’s girls softball team had an outstanding weekend. The team won all four games they competed in and won the Berthoud Invitational Tournament as the only undefeated team.

Junior Christi Frierson stated, “We played better as a team this weekend and as a whole unit. It was a team effort with all the key hits we got.”

Frierson won MVP of the tournament due to her impressive performance. The girls have started off very well this year with an overall record of 6-3 under head coach Kirk Grauberger.

This is Grauberger’s first year as the head coach for the Spartans. The Spartans have a lot of experience on the team, regardless of the age of the players.  One example of that is freshman Kyra Grauberger, who talked about how the skill-level of players and opponents has not dropped from the travel season to the high school season.  However, being a freshman on the varsity does have its challenges.  “Being a freshman can kind of be intimidating but we go into every game confident and ready to give it our all,” Grauberger said.
