Greeley West raised money for the Colorado Make a Wish Foundation by giving students the opportunity to wear a hat inside the building as long as they donated $1 to the cause. It proved a unique chance for students to showcase their spiriton Wednesday.
A lot of students were happy that they finally had the opportunity to wear their hats inside the building because traditionally hats have never been allowed at Greeley West. Makai Mireles, a senior at Greeley West, said, “I collect hats and I like wearing hats, so it was just a cool opportunity to wear a hat in school, while also getting to donate to charity.”
For some students it was mostly about getting to donate to a good cause, as a Greeley student. Freshman Adyan Andrade, “I usually don’t like wearing hats but I had to take the opportunity to donate to charity.”
Mr. Nick Jacoby, a Social Studies teacher at West, summed up the whole day perfectly when he said, “I think the whole idea was a great way to bring the community together under a good cause while also giving staff and students the chance to express themselves in a way that we normally would not be able to in school.” Hopefully this sparks more ideas in the future about creative ways that Greeley Students could donate to local charities. Thank you to everyone who participated and donated.
