This week, District 6 had its first snow day of the year, unexpectedly, during May. After having high temperatures for the past few months, it randomly decided to be cold, and rainy, which then developed into snow. The night before, it started lightly snowing. and it was barely sticking, but it did enough to be declared a snow day on Wednesday. Was it a snow day, or an early Saturday?
Freshman Brayden Garcia stated, “When I learned about it I was super happy and texted all of my friends, telling them there was a snowday. I chilled all day, it was fun.” Garcia spent the day like any other Saturday, playing video games, calling his friends, and sleeping in. Despite the last minute notice, he planned his day with his friends, and enjoyed the break.Â
Senior Jaslene Vega stated, “I jumped for joy, it was the best day of my life. I slept until one in the afternoon, and got to spend time with my friends for the rest of the day.” Vega spent her day as expected, sleeping in and hanging around. It was super unexpected which made it more enjoyable, and a good time to rest after AP and IB tests.Â
Junior Miguel Jensen stated, “I was excited because it was sunny all day, even though they made it seem like there was going to be crazy weather. I planted trees with my mom since it was so nice outside.” Jensen had a sneak peek of summer, and being outside. It was nice enough for him and his mom to be outside and planting trees.
Senior Alejandro Perez stated, “It was a good break, I didn’t have to wake up and do anything. I didn’t do squat but laying in my bed and watching movies.” Perez wasn’t surprised about it snowing in May, considering it being in Colorado, but it still didn’t feel right.
