Greeley West’s Student Council made sure this week’s Spirit Week cleebrating Homecoming was on theme. With the Homecoming theme being Under the Sea, STUCO got creative with days ispired by the ocean. The spirit days were Beach day vs Chill day, Rhyme Without a Reason, Spongebob Day, and Blue vs Gold.
A lot of students and teachers participated in it this year. The goal for spirit week this year was for it to be accessible for students so that they did not have to go and buy supplies. The Student Council tried to get as much feedback from students. They put out surveys and held town meetings. Senior Alexia Arellano Saucedo, stated, “I think we wanted to get everyone involved this year, and make it accessible for students.”
A fan favorite spirit day was Rhyme without a Reason. Science teacher and tennis coach, Mr. Ryan Pace stated, “Rhyme Without a Reason was my favorite. At first I was skeptical, but then I saw how creative everyone was.” said Pace.
Junior Sophie Herold, explained how it is important to participate in spirit weeks because it makes students feel included, and adds fun to school. “School spirit makes students feel included in something, and it adds an aspect of fun in school when you participate” said Herold.
Science and Student Council sponsor Mr. Zachary Armstrong expressed that his favorite day was Beach Day. “Beach Day was my favorite because I had really cool beach clothes,” said Armstrong.
