Greeley West senior Fatima Lone is taking center stage as the lead female role in this year’s fall play, Puffs, which will be performed on November 7th and 8th. The production, a hilarious and heartwarming parody inspired by a certain well-known wizarding world, marks the school’s first non-musical play in several years.
Lone shared that she was “beyond excited” when she found out she got the lead role after a competitive audition and callback process. “I got the role I was hoping for, which is even more exciting,” she said.
For Lone, the best part of this year’s show has been watching the theater troupe grow together. “I’ve been enjoying seeing our troupe learn and grow, especially under new direction. I’m looking forward to our success,” Lone said.
She hopes the audience will leave the performance laughing and fully immersed in the world of Puffs. “I hope every audience member finds the play comedic and is captivated by all the funny and eccentric characters,” she said.
Lone has been involved in theater since she was eight years old, and her passion clearly shines through. She admits that leading a show comes with challenges, such as memorizing lines and setting a good example for the cast, but she embraces the responsibility. “Theater helps you grow as a person, making you more confident and teaching teamwork and focus,” she added.
Theater teacher Ms. Amanda Metlzer praised Lone as a “very strong performer” who “transports the audience to a whole new world.”
After graduation, Lone plans to continue acting through community theater. With her dedication, charisma, and love for performing, she’s sure to keep shining.
Catch Lone and the rest of the cast in Puffs on November 7th and 8th at Greeley West High School.
