At Greeley West, a once dedicated head football coach by the name of Mr. Jason Renouf has transitioned his leadership and service oriented skills into a new role as the IEP manager, where he now builds student success off of the field.
This transition, although being big and much different, was a good one for Renouf. “Even though it was hard, it came to a point where I was just ready to move on. COVID-19 really burnt me out, so this transition, like most changes, was good,” Renouf stated.
As the IEP manager, Renouf feels as though his work is vital and enjoys it so much saying, “before I started, teachers were having to not only write IEPs but also teach at the same time, and with me doing the paperwork and ground work for them, it gets the teachers more in front of their classes.”
He went on to say, “I feel as though God gave me the skills to help out people and so that’s what I love to do, I love helping people which is why I started coaching and working with students. If I can make anyone’s life easier and give them less work, I will do whatever I can.”
Even with this change, Renouf still loves to work with football teams and help out on the field even if he isn’t directly in front of everyone. Renouf said, “I still work in the football community. I am a consultant for the Wellington High School.”
He went on to say, “I watch film for the team, sit in the box on game days and give suggestions about plays. I also attend coaches meetings and some practices and I really do love it. Again, i really enjoy helping people wherever I can, especially since I have the background knowledge.”
He ended by saying, “If I have been granted certain God-given gifts, the heart of helping out and the knowledge to support, why wouldn’t I do everything in my power to do just that?”
Evelyn Javalera, the staff member who shares an office with, loves working with Renouf and appreciates all he does. “He truly is great; everyone sings so many praises because of him and all he does for the West community,” Javalera said.
Many of the other staff at West who work closely with him also sing his praises and love all that he does. Ms. Hanna Ellenburger went sofar as to call him a rockstar. “He is truly an advocate for students and staff, and is a powerful force in our special education department. I don’t know what our team would do without him. He has a difficult job, never complains, and always will step up to support in everything. Jason does not get the recognition that he deserves daily,” Ellenburger said
Not only is Renouf an outstanding employee at West but he is also the exact same on the field working closely with Wellington High School’s football team as a consultant. Coach Travis Peeples, the head coach is in awe of all Renouf’s hard work and dedication saying. “He is truly transforming lives in so many awesome ways. He is so dedicated to being a great husband, friend and is the type who would do anything to help someone out no matter what,” Peeples explained.
Peeples, who was an assistant under Renouf at Greeley West at one time, went on to say, “Without him, our program would not be as successful as it is and we’re so grateful to have such a good Christian man who is so devoted to everything he does and loves to help.”
