Greeley West senior Nadia Adam discovered that she is a finalist for the Daniel’s Fund Scholarship on Tuesday evening, a moment that left her in shock and excitement.
The Daniels Fund scholarship is one of the most competitive scholarships in the region, recognizing students with leadership, strong character, and commitment to give back to their community. Each year thousands apply, and only a small group advances to the finalist group.
For Adam, being named a finalist represents years of dedication both inside and outside the classroom. Known for her strong work ethic and determination, she has consistently challenged herself academically while remaining focused on her long-term goals. Still, the news came as a surprise. “I was really surprised. I was really shocked,” Adams said. “I wasn’t expecting to be a finalist.” .
Although Adam is still deciding where she wants to attend college, she knows exactly what she wants to do. She hopes to attend a university where she can continue to grow academically and prepare for a career in law. “I don’t know what college I want to go to yet, but I know I want to be a lawyer,” stated Adam.
When asked what she believes made her application stand out among thousands of others, Adam pointed to her writing style. “A lot of people overdo it, and it seems inauthentic,” she explained. “I feel like mine was really authentic. It was easy to read, but still professional.”
Adam completed most of the application process independently, showing her self-motivation and discipline. However, she credits school staff for supporting her when it mattered most. “They let me stay in and just focus straight on that the day it was due,” she said.
