Recently, President Donald Trump announced he would release government files about UFOs and aliens. Students at Greeley West shared their opinions about whether or not alien lifeforms exist.
Students gave many different answers. Senior Andy Sanchez Soto said he wasn’t so sure that aliens existed. He said he has never seen anything himself, but thinks, “It could be possible.”
Other students strongly believe UFOs exist. Junior Angel Yanez-Franco said he believes in UFOs because of something he saw when he was younger in Mexico. “I saw three lights fly into the mountains,” he said.
Since then, he has believed there could be something unexplained in the sky.
Other students said their beliefs come from thinking about space. Junior Riley Lang said the universe is very large, so it seems unlikely that Earth is the only place with life. He said there could be things out there we don’t fully understand yet.
Students also sounded off on the reason that President Donald Trump would release UFO files. Some students thought releasing the information would be good because people want answers. Giovanni Golian said it would help people learn more about things the government may know.
However, some people wondered if the decision could be meant to distract people from other news or problems. Assistant Principal Bridget Koehler said politicians sometimes change the public’s focus by talking about different topics.
Overall, students had many different opinions. Some believe UFOs could be aliens, while others think they are just objects we cannot explain yet. Even with different views, many students agreed that learning more information could change how people think about space and the government.
