April Fool’s Day at Greeley West High School delivered exactly what students and staff needed to keep a light mood on campus. A day of pranks is usually only seen with children; however, Mr. Ryan Pace did not let that fact bring him down.
Pace set the tone early on as the master of it all. The science wing was full of laughter and heads on a swivel to keep a lookout for what was to happen next. Bright and early in the morning, a timer went off every ten minutes in Mr. Ryan Knoblock’s room to keep him on his toes. Pace noted, “He really does not like timers,” and doesn’t that make the prank all the better.
Pace continued his streak of mischief, but this time with a sidekick, Ms. Karina Basset. Earlier in the day, Pace had given our assistant principal, Ms. Bridget Koehler a handheld pencil sharpener. After giving the sharpener, he began sending students one at a time to her to sharpen their pencils. It started as a small scheme, and soon enough, Koehler was sharpening 25 students’ pencils by hand.
To finally put an end to the Pace show, his own AVID class tried to pull a quick one on him. The students planned to leave class early before Pace even showed up. But of course, the king of pranks caught on quickly and turned the tables. He decided to pull the same prank of “leaving early and scaring them,” he noted.
Not every prank had the same success. English teacher Mr. Garrett Leal’s plan did not work as planned, or even at all. Leal tried to convince his students they had to write an essay in 10 minutes, but he received no reaction. Maybe they pulled a prank on him?
By the end of the day, Greeley West had a time trying to pull little tricks on one another, making it a great school day.
