On Wednesday May 6 the district was shut down due a snow day.
For some students this was just a day off to relax at home, but for other students it was the perfect time to catch up on homework and studying.
Junior Kairo Ibarra-ruiz used the time to study for AP tests. “Over the snow day I spent about four to fire hours studying for AP Pre Calc, Lit, and Environmental Science” Ibarra-ruiz explained.
Ibarra-ruiz also said he would have rather had a regular school day. “since we had a snow day my AP Lit test that was scheduled for Wednesday morning was moved to Monday the 18th and I would have rather gotten it done Wednesday than the day before finals” Ibarra-ruiz noted.
Senior Victor Espinoza used the snow day to finish up some assignments. “I mostly worked on homework for classes. I had two assignments that I needed to do and I got both of them done which was nice but I still would have rather had a school day.” Espironza explained.
But for Espinoza he found the timing of the snow day annoying. “It is just annoying that they did it so close to the end of the year when all classes are doing big papers or projects and we lost valuable class time to work on them.” Espinoza explained.
Teacher Mr. Nathan Evans had mixed feelings about the snow day. “Emotionally, it was relieving to have an unexpected break. I did not do much work during the snow day. Although, the rest from the snow day allowed me to feel good about getting to work extra early Thursday to get work I otherwise probably wouldn’t have gotten done. Sometimes a little break, even though I lose some work time, indirectly makes the rest of the time I am at work more productive. Quality over quantity kind of a trade-off. I did really want to see my IB Seniors on Wednesday, because they have their IB test coming up. I am glad that today (Monday) we made up that day,” Evans explained.
