The Greeley West volleyball team dropped to 1-6 after a loss to Rocky Mountain last Thursday.
Despite the loss, Greeley West coach Ryan Knoblock left satisfied with the performance.
“Our players this year are playing much better together as a team, and in general refusing to quit,” Knoblock said. “We’re competing through everything.”
The Spartans started the game well, keeping the first set close. This resulted in the Lobos calling an early timeout. Assistant coach Jessica Velarde said, “The other team thought it was going to be an easy win, and when they realized early on that they were going to have to compete for it.”
Greeley West had a tough matchup according to Knoblock. “Those Fort Collins schools have been playing together since they were six years old… So they just have a vast amount more experience than we do,” Knoblock said.
The Lobos showed signs of great chemistry whereas Greeley West struggled with things like communication.
At points in the game, the team started to get down and not play to their best ability. Junior Faith Karnitz said,” I think we could have stayed a lot more positive with each other and ourselves.”
