The Greeley West boys tennis team are getting ready to face Fort Collins and Mountain View this week as they look to improve upon performances at the Greeley West Invitational and in a match against Poudre.
Tonight, they face Fort Collins and tomorrow they face Mountain View. Coach Ryan Pace is pleased with how practice is going ahead of these games.
“Ive been happy with the competitiveness but I’m always thinking we can push further. So I’ve been happy with it, but I still want to keep punishing.” Pace said.“We have a very large team, so this is with as many boys out as we’ve ever had”.
Ahead of these games it’s vital to have good team chemistry when you can see eye to eye. “The team’s chemistry has been awesome. A mom of one of the players saying how this is the closest team she’s ever seen,” Pace said.
They all trust each other. They’d go to bat for each other, no matter what. That’s why they won the sportsmanship award at the Greeley West Invite.
Confidence also comes with some exciting predictions and coach Pace said, “Fort Collins is a top ten team in the state. That doesn’t mean we can’t compete in that match,” Pace said. “I’d love us to get a full upset, like I’d love to see a 4-3, but if we’re competing at all seven of our positions, that would be a huge win.”
