The Greeley West boys tennis team are coming off a 7-0 loss and a 7-0 win after facing Loveland and Mountain View last week. They are now getting ready for today’s Windsor Fall Invitational.
I Winsor, the tournament feautres eight teams competing, including Severance, Thomson Valley, Riverdale, and familiar faces in Poudre and Longmont. The tennis team is convinced that they can put up a great performance.
A great performance would mean a lot to the team. Coach Ryan Pace said, “It’s a big confidence builder. We have an opportunity to compete for a top two or three spots, maybe even that number one spot. This is all depending on how well they compete when they get out there.”
Senior captain Jacob Nichols shared his point of view as a player on the team saying, “Putting up a good result in the tournament means a lot to the team. Not only does it mean we do well in the tournament, but it gets us ready for our regional matches which help us go to state.”
Nichols also shared his thoughts about the team’s competitiveness this season by saying, “Our team has been very competitive this year. We have faced off against all of the Greeley schools and showed them who’s boss. Not only that, we have also gone face to face against state caliber teams.”
Nichols agrees with Pace by saying, “The schools we face are amazing rivals and we’ve been able to beat them before. I believe we have what it takes to bring home a victory.
