Greeley West goes against long-time rival Greeley Central tonight in a game full of pride and tradition. The team is fired up, especially senior defensive end Antonio Vigil.
Despite the excitement surrouding the game, Vigil said he felt collected. “I feel good, nothing crazy. I’m relaxed. It feels good to go against these guys one more time,” Vigil explained.
Rivalry games are always intense for players, but Vigil said this one is different. “The intensity. The team energy. It just feels good to be a part of it,” Vigil said.
The matchup means more than just another win in the record books. For Vigil and his teammates, this is about city pride. “It’d be amazing,” he said. “To win over the city and take it back, it’s a proud feeling.”
Vigil plays defensive end, one of the most physical and hardest positions on the field. “The hardest part is figuring out your opponent, especially if they’re bigger or faster than you,” he explained. “You have to figure out what their weaknesses are.”
He described Greeley Central as a competitive team, yet he’s confident and focused heading into the game. With his calm attitude and strong mindset, Vigil is ready to lead the Spartans into a game that means everything.
